Trend: 40′s Waves

tr_40waves

We’re craving Veronica Lake-like locks! The film stunner’s influence can be seen on Amanda Seyfried, Naomie Harris, and Amy Adams, all of whom have hit the red carpet sporting retro locks. Nicole Richie proves that the style works as well on short hair.

Laini Reeves, the hairstylist behind Adams’ soft waves, used a 2-inch curling iron to create ringlets all over the actress’ head. (If your hair doesn’t hold a wave easily, pin the curls to your scalp until they cool, this will help them set and last longer.) Then Reeves gently brushed her hair with Mason Pearson’s The Handy Mixture Brush ($120), but you can get a similar result with Sonia Kashuk’s Hair Brush ($16) or Caswell-Massey’s Standard Boar & Bristle Nylon Brush ($55). “The more you brush the softer the hair will get,” Reeves says. Set with a heavy amount of hairspray, sweep your hair to one side, and head to your local speakeasy!

    • Hi Hun, It might work better for you to start with damp hair and put it in big old fashioned curlers or you can try my trick by twisting damp hair into a bun. Sleep with either of these over night and you will wake up with waves. Then brush lightly…Hope this helps!
