Makeup looks that Last

It’s raining, it’s pouring, your eyeliner’s running.

Wait, scratch that. Your eyeliner isn’t going anywhere! After all, what’s the point of mastering a reverse cat-eye if it’s just going to smear into a raccoon eye?

Makeup artist Janessa Paré created these ultra-gorgeous beauty looks that’ll keep you looking beautiful and on trend … come rain or shine!

LastingMakeup-SpringMetallics

Spring Metallics

To take the metallic trend into the warmer months, look for bronzed hues reminiscent of fading sunlight. The key to this eye makeup is layering. Paré used a taupe metallic shade as a base, put a darker more golden shadow over it then dabbed a lighter metallic yellow shadow right in the center of the lids . “Use a black liner on the outer corners of your eyes in a ‘V’ shape. “This will make your eyes look lighter and brighter.” The shape created is reminiscent of an exaggerated cat-eye, giving a nod to the eyeshadow shape of the season.

LastingMakeup-TrueBlue

True Blue

The currently trending blue-eyeshadow look is a solid, graphic shape of pure, even color. To create it Paré used a cream eyeliner and painted the shape with an angled eyeshadow brush. Follow along the natural contour of your eye to create the petal shape of color. If you like this eyeshadow shape but are worried about such a dense pop of color, Paré says you can swap it out for a neutral hue. However, I recommend you go for the maximum impact!

LastingMakeup-ReverseCatEye

Reverse Cat-Eye

Lower-lid makeup is particularly vulnerable to smudging, but this reverse cat-eye isn’t going anywhere. To create a smoldering, edgy look, Paré used an eggplant-colored pencil, drawing elongated shape along the lower lashes, then used black pencil on the lower waterline to create depth. She finished the look by piling a ton of mascara on the top lashes. “Since there’s no liner on top, the mascara balances the look out,” she says. “For a more playful feel, you can add some colorful eyeshadow to the upper lid.”

Lips on Fire

The orange lipstick trend is going strong. For a bold look that’s not too severe, go for soft edges. “After you apply the lipstick, wipe the edge of you lips with a tissue to blur it out,” she says. Dab on cheek stain to continue the soft-focus vibe – you can even mix a little with concealer to sheer it out. To complement the orange lip, Paré smudged a white eyeliner on the whole lid, just past the crease, and drew a line on the lower lid as well. She topped off the eye with an espresso mascara, noting, “This will tie the lip in with the eye. The white is a cool tone, but the lipstick is warm, so the warm-toned mascara connects the whole look.”
