Fall Essentials

It’s time to turn to the more playful, fun aspect of dressing! Trends and Accessorizing! So without further ado here are my favorite essentials for fall that will guarantee you style star status!

FallEssentials-SpeckledPullover

JOA Two Toned Sweater, $88, available at Shopbop; Proenza Schouler Long Sleeve Cropped Crewneck, $595, available at Proenza Schouler.

A new version of the traditional nubby sweater makes its way back into our closets each season. For fall, we’ve been feeling the speckled, marled pullover that has a made-by-hand vibe!

FallEssentials-RiverIsland

River Island Grey Fedora Hat ($50)
You’ll wear this hat well into winter, promise.

FallEssential-Asos-Scarf

ASOS Oversized Scarf ($34)
An animal-print wrap feels luxe.

FallEssentials-ili

ili Leather Crossbody Bag ($69)
An oxblood bag is timeless!

FallEssentials-Parka

Forever 21 Life In Progress Jacket, $34.79, available at Forever 21; Burberry Oversize Parka With Check Wool Warmer, $1395, available at Burberry.

The great thing about a fall parka is that it can easily become your winter parka with the addition of a lining. Wear it with the sleeves rolled up and easy dresses for the beginning of fall, and with thick trousers and knits when the temps really start to drop.

FallEssentials-FredPerry

Fred Perry Knitted Jersey Bucket Hat ($76)
Ever since you saw Rihanna wearing a bucket hat, you knew you needed one.

FallEssentials-Waistcoat

Chic Nova Pure Color Sleeveless Business Suit Vest, $31, available at Chic Nova; Public School For J.Crew Earliblaze Vest, $178, available at J. Crew.

Everyone needs that one layering piece that instantly makes anything they’re wearing appear more legit. For fall, it’s the formal waistcoat, which can dress up a simple tee or dress, or dressdown a more formal frock.

FallEssentials-TedBaker

Ted Baker Ayef Opulent Bloom Printed Scarf ($65)
Give your look a fresh finishing touch with this printed scarf.

FallEssentials-Trouser

Front Row Shop Linen Trousers, $62, available at Front Row Shop; Avelon Progressing Pants, $400, available at The Dreslyn.

If you don’t already own one of these roomy, baggy trousers, now’s the time to get some! Roll up the cuffs yourself or get them tailored to hit right above your ankles. Then, pair them with anything. Seriously — party tops, sneakers, booties, blazers, crop tops — it all works!

FallEssentials-TedBaker-hat

Ted Baker Karah Faux Fur Hat ($90)
Never say no to a (faux) fur hat!

FallEssentials-Asos

ASOS Wide Waist Cincher Buckle Belt ($29)
This belt is chic and sexy!

FallEssential-FauxFur

ASOS Faux Fur Multi Stripe Scarf, $67.70, available at ASOS; Shrimps Pink Faux Fur Pablo Clutch, $295, available at Avenue 32.

British brand Shrimps started a phenomenon with its Seussian “fur” pieces straight out of a storybook. This season, don’t even pretend that your fuzzy isn’t faux, and go for pieces in unnatural colors, like pastel pink, lime green, and electric blue.

FallEssentials-CheapMonday

Cheap Monday Clip Hair Clip ($29)
Too lazy to do your hair? Got you covered!

FallEssentials

Express Mid Rise Slim Flare Jeans, $39.90, available at Express; Acne Studios Pop Trash Jean, $350, available at Steven Alan.

Opt for denim that looks worn-in, not worn-out. A rip or two is totally believable — anything in double digits just seems like a frivolity!

FallEssentials-United

United by Blue Braddock Backpack ($88)
There are so many ways to wear a backpack this fall.

FallEssentials-SexyBackBlouse

Silence + Noise Button-Down Shirt, $69, available at Urban Outfitters; Secai Pleated-Back Poplin Shirt, $520, available at NET-A-PORTER.

It’s time to bring the “business in the front, party in the back” philosophy to our blouses. We’re seeing loads of button-ups deliver a surprise hit of skin in the back, whether through sheer panels, a deep slit, or clever cut-outs. Wear them with high-waisted trousers and skirts, and never tuck ’em in.

FallEssentials-RiverIsland-Bow

River Island Red Plaid Hair Bow ($10)
Voila! An unexpected way to wear plaid this season.

FallEssentials-Asos-Fedora

ASOS Felt Fedora Hat ($38)
If you still haven’t invested in a fedora for fall, try this one.

FallEssentials-ErinTempleton

Erin Templeton Double Wrap Obi Belt ($30)
Kimono belts are the next big thing, you heard it here first.

FallEssentials-ShearlingLinedJacket

ASOS Denim Jacket in Vintage Wash, $63.85, available at ASOS; Golden Goose Black Shearling Jacket, $1995, available at SSENSE.

This ’70s staple is making a comeback as this season’s version of the wear-with-everything layer. Paired with denim, a leather moto, or just by itself in a fleecy zip-up, shearling injects a bit of insouciant cool!

What are your essentials for Fall?
