Makeup looks that Last

It’s raining, it’s pouring, your eyeliner’s running.

Wait, scratch that. Your eyeliner isn’t going anywhere! After all, what’s the point of mastering a reverse cat-eye if it’s just going to smear into a raccoon eye?

Makeup artist Janessa Paré created these ultra-gorgeous beauty looks that’ll keep you looking beautiful and on trend … come rain or shine!

LastingMakeup-SpringMetallics

Spring Metallics

To take the metallic trend into the warmer months, look for bronzed hues reminiscent of fading sunlight. The key to this eye makeup is layering. Paré used a taupe metallic shade as a base, put a darker more golden shadow over it then dabbed a lighter metallic yellow shadow right in the center of the lids . “Use a black liner on the outer corners of your eyes in a ‘V’ shape. “This will make your eyes look lighter and brighter.” The shape created is reminiscent of an exaggerated cat-eye, giving a nod to the eyeshadow shape of the season.

LastingMakeup-TrueBlue

True Blue

The currently trending blue-eyeshadow look is a solid, graphic shape of pure, even color. To create it Paré used a cream eyeliner and painted the shape with an angled eyeshadow brush. Follow along the natural contour of your eye to create the petal shape of color. If you like this eyeshadow shape but are worried about such a dense pop of color, Paré says you can swap it out for a neutral hue. However, I recommend you go for the maximum impact!

Sephora Collection Waterproof Smoky Cream Liner in Electric Teal, $5, available at Sephora

Vera Jane Jacket, $220.80, available at Joie and Old Navy raincoat.

LastingMakeup-ReverseCatEye

Reverse Cat-Eye

Lower-lid makeup is particularly vulnerable to smudging, but this reverse cat-eye isn’t going anywhere. To create a smoldering, edgy look, Paré used an eggplant-colored pencil, drawing elongated shape along the lower lashes, then used black pencil on the lower waterline to create depth. She finished the look by piling a ton of mascara on the top lashes. “Since there’s no liner on top, the mascara balances the look out,” she says. “For a more playful feel, you can add some colorful eyeshadow to the upper lid.”

Tarte Smolder Eyes Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liner in Fig, $22; Make Up For Ever Aqua Black Waterproof Cream Eye Shadow, $23, available at Sephora; bareMinerals Flawless  Waterproof Mascara in Black $18, available at Ulta.

ASOS Clear Rain Trench $56.44, available at ASOS.

LastingMakeup-LipsOnFire

Lips on Fire

The orange lipstick trend is going strong. For a bold look that’s not too severe, go for soft edges. “After you apply the lipstick, wipe the edge of you lips with a tissue to blur it out,” she says. Dab on cheek stain to continue the soft-focus vibe – you can even mix a little with concealer to sheer it out. To complement the orange lip, Paré smudged a white eyeliner on the whole lid, just past the crease, and drew a line on the lower lid as well. She topped off the eye with an espresso mascara, noting, “This will tie the lip in with the eye. The white is a cool tone, but the lipstick is warm, so the warm-toned mascara connects the whole look.”

Make Up For Ever Aqua Rouge in 17 Bright Orange, $24, available at Sephora; Vincent Longo Lip and Cheek Stain in Liquid Kiss, $22.50, available at DermStoreNyx Cosmetics Waterproof Eye Liner in White MPE01, $4.49, available at CVSL’Oréal Paris Voluminous Waterproof Mascara in Black Brown, $7.29.

Nail It

It’s less intimidating to make a risqué statement with your nail polish than with a pair of pants. Your style of nail, or polish choice can transform your look instantly. If you’re looking liven up your nails this Spring, here are some of the best nails trends to try!

NailIt-Pastel

Pastels, Of-course

Featured in every spring nail collection this year, it’s clear pastels are going to be thriving this spring. Aren’t they always? Opaque pastels on your nails contrast the dark winter we’ve weathered and are a pretty accent to all your spring-inspired outfits.

Essie nail color , Deborah lippmann nail polish , Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear , L’Oreal Nail Polish

NailIt-MetallicShift

Metallic Shift

It’s got a futuristic feel to it. The “galaxy theme” is a rising trend in fashion, and giving it a shot on your nails will be sleek and different for spring. Plus color-shifting polish is always cool to look at.

NailIt-WhiteOut

White Out

With opaque formulas that leave fingers looking sophisticated, immaculate and daring, white-hot nails are on the rise. White will compliment all your outfits and is a fresh trend you might want to try this spring.

Obsessive Compulsive , Sally Hansen , Essie nail polish , China Glaze Nail Laquer

NailIt-Highlighter

Highlighter

Bright colors are in for spring, especially on your fingers. While wearing full-on lime green or yellow might seem scary, it’s not as heart-stopping to have your nails rock it out. After months in less daylight and creating an infinite amount of black on black ensembles – the bright touch is a nice change of pace.

NailIt-halfmoon

Half Moon

The look gives off an elegant yet edgy feel. The trend can be pulled off multiple ways and the design can be tailored to personal taste and style. You could be a pastel half moon, lime green, white, or aim for a darker shade. This is a great spring trend to experiment with.

NailIt-nontradfrench

Non Traditional French

Not limited to black, pink, or horizontal lines. The nontraditional French can be nude and black, and a diagonal triangle or a matte black and black line for the French tip, as spotted at NYFW. Another interesting trend to channel your taste into.

NailIt-Striped

Striped

Nothing crazy here; we’re not going zebra. For the look, all you’ll need is your choice of base color and stripe color. NYFW went with black and white as their choice of stripe color but you can opt for whatever your little heart desires. Gather your inspiration and design your nails into something fun this spring.

NailIt-NudeNeutrals

Nude Neautrals

With the creation of opaque formulas, neutrals have blossomed into a trend for spring. The look is classy and makes the statement something along the lines of “clean start for spring” – love it.

Butter London , Givenchy , L’Oreal , Insta-Dry , Zoya

NailIt-SheerColor

Sheer Color

The look is simple yet more interesting than the regular solid color. This trend is expected to be extremely popular for the warmer weather. OPI actually released a whole line of sheer colors you might want to try out this Spring!
